I’d like to develop this some more, however the positive and negative words aren’t quite right yet… any suggestions?

I don’t think mad scientists are necessarily devoted to evil. I prefer the term, “misunderstood.” As in the cause of a mad scientist tends to be, most of the time, misunderstood by the general public. Perhaps in many cases this can be seen as evil, but for there to be an evil one must also define a good. Both definitions are arbitrary and neither can exist without the other, thus the application of one versus the other suggests the influence of a societal convention in order to categorize that which is foreign and unconventional.
